Have you created any surprises for your customers during this long winter? By surprises I mean have you done anything to your business to make it seem just a little different from the 'same old place' your customers are used to? Customers love to see you changing and adding excitement to your garden center. Constant, steady change keeps people from being bored, keeps them engaged and makes them think that you are engaged and invested both monetarily and emotionally in your business. In most cases, the change I am talking about is not the kind that has you sitting before your local zoning board for months and requires putting up the rest of your life as collatoral to pay for a massive redesign of your business. Most times it is a rearrangement of your store, a new coat of paint, a new color scheme for your sales area or a plan for display throughout the season that differs from what your customers remember from your business last year. Take the time now to finish that painting, planning and rearranging...it will pay off in charged up customers, ready to ooooh and aaah over your changes and ready to buy your plants!!
